Pedagogies of Hope Workshop

On May 11 & 12 2023, I and the team of Pedagogies of Hope, held a two-day workshop that brought together interdisciplinary scholars, graduate students, practitioners, community activists, and artists in reflexive and collaborative exchange. We collectively imagined, designed, and mobilized critical pedagogical methods that transgress hierarchical systems of knowledge production by reorienting embodied experiences of knowing, social awareness, and community engagement as legitimate sites of knowledge and knowledge-making.

The two-day workshop took place at McMaster University (Day 1) and Centre[3]’s Harriet Buidling (Day 2), both located in Ohròn:wakon, otherwise known as Hamilton Ontario. Alongside three roundtable discussions, the workshops also involved performances, art exhibitions, and opportunities for interactive and embodied participation, as well as more informal networking and gatherings.
